Uncanny X-Men #190

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #190

Highlights: Manhattan has been surrounded by a mystical barrier after the X-Men say goodbye to Storm.

Synopsis: Without them realizing it the X-Men seem to thrown into a whole different world that takes place during medieval times. Storm is on a pirate ship and the X-Men are in a tavern in downtown Manhattan. Xavier seems to have been taken control of by an enemy of Spider Man and placed all of Manhattan under his spell and it is only growing as time goes by. Storm and Calisto manage to escape the barrier, but with some help from Seline, re-enter it to save their friends who are all under the spell of Kulan Gath. After a battle with Kulan's guards, an army made up of the Morlocks, the X-Men and Storm come together with Captain America and decide to take down Kulan Gath under Seline's orders.

Highlights: The X-men and the Heroes fight Galactus

Synopsis: The Heroes rush back to the village to help the X-Men fight Galactus. In the middle of the battle, Dr. Reed is  transported to Galactus' homeworld for tea. While this is going on Dr Doom realizes he might still be able to win and breaks out of the holding cell the Heroes have left him in and begins to prepare a machine using Klaw's body. The Heroes fight and are winning, but Galactus gets away and begins attacking from space. The X-Men and the Heroes are once more reunited.

Synopsis: The X-Men and the New Mutants take a night to tell stories around the campfire. Illyana tells a story using all the X-Men as her characters.

Uncanny X-Men #188

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #188

Highlights: The X-Men and Forge battle sorcery that is trying to take on their human forms.

Synopsis: After battling the Dire Wraith's in Forge's home Storm, Colossus and Rogue think they have won when suddenly they are attacked by some sort of shadow demons. Unable to fight them on their own, Xavier sends Nightcrawler to pick up Amanda in order for her to use her magic against the shadow beings. Although Amanda is powerful, she is not enough to battle the beings on her own and Colossus' little sister Illyana is sent in as well to battle the shadow beings. Still unable  to defeat the foul sorcery, Storm realizes that one of the Dire Wraith's must still be alive up on the roof. Forge forces Nightcrawler to transport him up to the roof, where he kills the remaining Wraith, bringing an end to the battle. Afterwards Nightcrawler calls a meeting of the X-Men, stating that he has decided that the dream of Mutant and Human peace is no longer worthwhile to him. Rachel, who is eavesdropping interrupts them violently, stating that the dream is not all for nothing and gives the X-Men a glimpse into her future, causing Nightcrawler to rethink his position on the matter dramatically.

Uncanny X-Men #187

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #187

Highlights: Storm tries to leave Forge's home, only to be drawn into a battle against Dire Wraiths intent on killing him.

Synopsis: Storm walks out on Forge but before she can get far she realizes that there is something wrong with the people who have entered Forge's building moments after she leaves. Before she can go any further Storm is attacked by a Dire Wraith and forced into a fight for her life. She is quickly aided by Naze, Forge's foster father, who she gives her word to that she will make sure no harm comes to Forge. Rogue and Colossus also join the battle, on their way to find Storm and bring her home. Using tricks and mystical powers the Dire Wraiths create confusion and illusions to trick the combatants, but Forge manages to trick the Dire Wraiths and they are defeated. However something completely different seems to grip Storm, Forge, Rogue and Colossus before they can assess the situation.

Extra Info: Storm realizes she can fight just as well without her mutant power as she could with them.

Highlights: A new Spider Woman reveals herself, the Wasp is killed by the Villains and the X-Men help the Heroes while the rest of the Avengers go to get revenge.

Synopsis: While the Heroes are helping the villagers, they discover a new Spider Woman who has come to help the cause. The Villains drive through the village on their way to there base and toss out the Wasp's body, who is unable to be saved. The X-Men cut off the Villains and attack them, but they get away and head back to their base where She-Hulk waits, ready to get revenge for the Wasp. She-Hulk is overpowered and presumed to be killed by the Villains. Meanwhile, Xavier lets Captain America know that the X-Men will keep watch over Galactus while the Avengers go to help She-Hulk.

Extra Info: Rogue makes decides that for better or worse, she is one of the X-Men.

Highlights: Forge takes Storm to his home and nurses her back to health

Synopsis: After her powers have been taken away with the weapon Forge developed, Storm is taken to Forge's home where he intends on helping her recover and in doing so, study her recovery in hopes of finding a cure for the loss of her powers. While Storm refuses to acknowledge any kind of life without her powers, Xavier uses cerebro to search for her, but fears the worse when he can't find her mutant signature and Rogue, feeling responsible, hunts down Val Cooper in order to find the necessary information she needs to find Storm, but encounters trouble when she finds Val already being attacked by Dire Wraiths.

Extra Info: Rogue seems to be unintentionally leaving a worse and worse trail of violent seeming confrontations behind her.

Secret Wars #6


Issue: Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Vol. 1 #6

Publishing Date: October 1984

Highlights: The Wasp escapes Magneto's lair, Dr Doom sends out the Villains in an attempt to distract Galactus, Xavier takes over leadership of the X-Men from Storm and sends out Wolverine, Cyclops and Rogue to find out what the Villains are up to.

Synopsis: After escaping Magneto's lair, the Wasp crash lands in a swamp and after a confrontation with the Lizard, decides to offer her help in treating his wounds. Dr Doom, after reanimating Klaw, sends him with a plan to have the Villains distract Galactus in order to prolong his time in Galactus' home. Xavier commands the X-Men to go and observe the Villains in order to find out what exactly they are up to and in doing so, causes Storm to confront him and his leadership of the X-Men. Instead of observing the Villains, Rogue, Cyclops and Wolverine attack them and end up wounding the Molecule Man, causing the Villains to retreat, after which Cyclops decides to finish what the Villains had started and forces a volcanic eruption. During this time the Heroes tend to wounded villagers and plan their next move while Colossus recovers amongst them.

Extra Info: Rogue questions her loyalty to the X-Men as the situations she is put in over and over seem to get more and more dangerous and careless.

Uncanny X-Men #185

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #185

Highlights: Rogue is attacked by the government, who believe she is responsible for the death of a SHIELD agent.

Synopsis: Rogue leaves and Storm goes to find her. At the same time the government tracks Rogue to bring her in on murder charges. They find her on the banks of the Mississippi after Storm has offered her powers to Rogue. When Rogue reacts, the weather reacts with her causing a sudden storm that takes out a boat on the river. While saving the people on the boat, government agent Henry Gyrich shoots a power neutralizer gun with the intent to hit Rogue, but hits Storm instead.

Extra Info: Rogue is still struggling with where her loyalties lay. Storm sees Rogue as a friend. Rogue also realizes that she does think about others when she decides to rescue the people trapped in the storm, rather thasn flee and save herself.

Contradictions: The video they show of Rogue in the Pentagon depicts Rogue asorbing Storm's powers with gloves on

Highlights: Rogue doesn't seem to care what happens to her as she fights till she drops in the danger room, trying to run from her split personality caused by the psyche of Ms. Marvel.

Synopsis: Finally back home, the X-Men settle into normal life, but tension grows as they all deal with the backlash of their own personal emotions and relationships. Colossus breaks up with Kitty, Rogue works herself to exhaustion and Wolverine decides to have a little talk with Colossus which goes better than he thought it would due to an unexpected run in with the Juggernaut.

Extra Info: Storm wonders if Rogue will go back to the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants if she doesn't get help to control her powers soon.

Uncanny X-Men #182

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #182

Highlights: Rogue flies off to save Michael Rossi based on Carol’s memories and emotions towards him.

Synopsis: After returning to the mansion on Storm’s orders to check on Kitty Pryde and the New Mutants, Rogue checks the emergency messages and is rattled by one that makes her take off immediately before trying to find Kitty. Rogue breaks into the SHIELD Helicarrier in order to save Michael Rossi. While rescuing Michael, Rogue’s personality switches to that of Carol Davners. Michael tells Rogue that she is not Carol and Rogue becomes confused, switching back and forth from Rogue to Carol and Michael, disgusted by what Rogue did to Carol, leaves her. Back at SHIELD, Nick Fury puts out an alert to bring Rogue in by any means necessary.

Extra Info: Rogue’s costume seems to have changed. Rogue is revealed to be 18yrs old.

Uncanny X-Men #178

Highlights: When faced with the decision to go home with her foster-mother Mystique or stay with the X-Men, Rogue decides to stay with the X-Men.

Synopsis: Convinced that Xavier is mind controlling Rogue into staying with the X-Men, Mystique attacks the X-Men while they are attending the ballet in New York, incapacitating Colossus first. Professor Xavier decides to keep Rogue out of the fight in order to not force her to test her loyalties. While the X-Men fight the Brotherhood, Kitty breaks into the Fantastic Four’s headquarters in order to “borrow” a device that could save Colossus’ life. Back at the mansion, Mystique attacks Xavier, intending on killing him in order to get Rogue back. Before Mystique can kill Xavier however, Rogue stops her and convinces Mystique that she is with the X-Men of her own free will. Mystique and the Brotherhood retreat. Kitty however, is found fallen off the Baxter building, presumably dead.

Extra Info: Rogue and Mystique talk about how Rogue grew up with Mystique, before her powers manifested.

Highlights: While chasing an alien stealing super-hero things for a scavenger hunt, Rogue tries to absorb the aliens powers in order to stop him, only to have him knock her unconscious.

Synopsis: Celebrating the start of spring, the X-Men enjoy a nice game of baseball at the mansion when an alien ship appears and steals the mansion. After pursuing the alien to the SHIELD helicarrier and the Savage Land, Rogue guesses that they are in pursuit of a scavenger hunt participant. They keep following, finding themselves at the Avenger’s mansion, the Hellfire Club and even the Marvel bullpen. Finally catching up with the alien, the X-Men have Lillandra judge the scavenger hunt and make the alien give all the stuff collected back.

Extra Info: Wolverine seems to be warming up to Rogue, showing more concern for her than usual.

Uncanny X-Men #175

Issue: The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #175

Highlights: Rogue begins to settle as one of the team in the X-Men when Mastermind attacks the X-Men. Cyclops uses Rogue to tell the X-Men that everything they are seeing is not real.

Synopsis: While doing some landscaping at the mansion, the X-Men witness a flash in the sky that is strikingly similar to the Phoenix. Scott then falls from the sky and Professor Xavier goes into critical condition when cerebro almost electrocutes him. The phoenix then emerges from Scott’s body and attacks the X-Men. As theX-Men try to call for aid, it seems the Phoenix is incinerating the world as they know it. Cyclops wakes and figures out that Mastermind is behind the return of the Phoenix, creating an illusion only the X-Men can see. Cyclops makes Rogue absorb Xavier’s powers in order to tell the rest of the X-Men of Mastermind’s plot. Storm disarms Mastermind and the X-Men find Madelyne half drown in the middle of the chaos. Finally safe, Cyclops and Madelyne marry.

Extra Info: “Wizard of Oz” poppies apparently affect her mutant physiology, causing her to pass out as soon as she inhales the spores from the plants.

Uncanny X-Men #173

Highlights: Rogue goes with Wolverine to find the Silver Samurai and ends up saving Wolverine and Mariko from Viper, but critically wounding herself in the process.

Synopsis: While trying to find Mariko’s half-brother, the Silver Samurai, Wolverine and Rogue realize that they have been tricked and rush back to the hospital, where Viper and the Silver Samurai are really planning their attack. When they get there Rogue takes out Viper and her ninjas and Wolverine battles with the Silver Samurai. Right before killing the Silver Samurai, Mariko begs Wolverine to spare his life, giving Viper the opportunity to shoot at Mariko and Wolverine. Rogue flies in and shoves Wolverine and Mariko out of the way, sacrificing herself for Mariko. Viper’s weapon explodes and she leaves before anyone can react. Wolverine rushes back, offering Rogue his powers in order to save her. In the end, Wolverine and Mariko do not get married, Mariko stating that Wolverine is not worthy.

Extra Info: Shown that knives/sharp objects don’t seem to penetrate Rogue’s skin. Rogue refers to Wolverine as “Wolvie” throughout the entire issue.
